Post Torrent encoded with qvee player need to download it - scam? Reply with quote
I hoep I am doing something wrong, but I cant help feel that this is a bit of a scam

I downloaded a torrent and upon playing get the message in the player that it was encoded with QVEE player and you need to download it at qveeplayer.com

The torrent (movie) simply loops over this 20 second message

So at qveeplayer.com, you can only download this for $10 via a phone line 1900 number that charges $5 per mintue - ok not goign to be that expensive right ??

Anyway, download the qvee player and them try to run the same movie torrent in it, and still get the same message ??? Duped ?????

Has anyone else had similar, hopefully more sucessful experiences with this qvee encoded format, smells fishy. Shocked

Thanks for posting, that is in fact a scam and if you have a link to the torrent info page, (if it's torrentbox) we can get rid of it and ban the uploader. As you can imagine those types of scams are frequent and we try to keep on top of it. Any music or video file that insists you download their player is a scam.

Nice list thanks, perhaps we should split and sticky that? I would say all a person needs is VLC player and k-lite codec. My personal favourite player is Media player classic that comes with the k-lite codec pack.

I used to recommend klite, but lately I see more and more people having trouble encoding with it on their systems.
So I've actually started pushing cccp instead. You can always just download media player classic anyhow.

I have been using the CCCP codec for a while now as k-lite wasn't playing some of my stuff anymore and this cccp works awesome on all my stuff I threw at it, so I would forsure recommend it now. Very Happy

I just use VLC player rather than dealing with codecs
